Gas & Cryogenics

Specialist transport for gas and cryogenic supply chains

Gas and cryogenic supply chains depend on exact handling, fit-for-purpose equipment and reliable delivery.

Alexander Group provides specialist dangerous goods transport for bulk gases, cryogenic liquids, LPG, compressed gas cylinders and intermodal gas movements across New Zealand and the Pacific.

  • Dangerous goods experts

Proven in transporting flammable, non-flammable, non-toxic and oxidising gases across bulk and packaged formats.

  • Bulk and packaged gas transport

Support for cryogenic tankers, LPG vessels, gas cylinders, cylinder packs, ISO tanks and customer-owned equipment.

  • Dedicated logistics solutions

Trucks, drivers, scheduling, systems and reporting configured around critical gas supply chains.

  • International and intermodal capability

Road, ferry, coastal and port-linked movements coordinated across production sites, depots and customer locations.

Why Alexander Group

When the product is under pressure, so is the supply chain

Industrial gases are critical to healthcare, food production, manufacturing, energy and other essential operations.

They can also be difficult to move.

Products may be transported under pressure, at extremely low temperatures or in formats requiring specialist equipment and controlled loading and unloading procedures. A missed delivery can interrupt production, reduce customer availability or create a wider operational problem.

The transport component amounts to far more than kilometres on the road. It requires careful management of product classification, equipment compatibility, payload, driver capability, site access, scheduling, documentation and emergency response.

Alexander Group provides the specialist people, fleet and operating discipline needed to keep gas and cryogenic products moving safely and reliably.

Benefits

Less risk. Lower cost. Better control.

  • Less risk across the network

Better control of product, people, site, compliance and delivery risk.

  • More reliable planning

Greater confidence in capacity, routes, timing and service continuity.

  • Better decision-making data

Visibility across performance, safety, fleet and operational trends.

  • More stable distribution costs

Smarter network design and contract clarity to reduce surprises and improve long-term planning.

Products and formats

If you've got gas, we've got you covered.

Gas and cryogenic products move in different forms, volumes and operating environments. Each format brings its own requirements across pressure, temperature, equipment, loading, segregation, driver training and emergency response.

Alexander Group supports dangerous goods transport across bulk, packaged and intermodal gas supply chains. Our role can range from a single movement to the operation of dedicated national fleets, scheduling teams and distribution networks.

  1. Bulk cryogenic gases

With specialist tanker transport for high-volume gases used across healthcare, manufacturing, food production and industrial operations, this is our bread and butter.

Products include oxygen, nitrogen, argon, carbon dioxide and other industrial gases, carried in bulk under controlled pressure or as refrigerated liquids at extremely low temperatures in purpose-built cryogenic tankers. These movements require suitable equipment, trained operators and tightly controlled loading and unloading procedures.

  2. LPG transport

Bulk transport for liquefied petroleum gas, including propane and butane, using pressure-rated equipment and dangerous goods controls.

Alexander Group can support movements between import terminals, production facilities, storage depots and customer sites.

  3. Compressed gas cylinders

Distribution of packaged gases in individual cylinders, cylinder packs, bundles and pallets.

Products may include oxygen, nitrogen, argon, helium, hydrogen, carbon dioxide and specialist gas mixtures used by industrial, medical and technical customers.

  4. ISO tanks and intermodal gas movements

Port-linked and inter-island transport using ISO tanks, pressure vessels and customer-owned equipment.

Movements can combine road, ferry, coastal shipping and port handling, with Alexander Group coordinating equipment, road legs, handovers and delivery requirements.

Our Process

Five steps from first call to continuous improvement.

  1. Understand the freight

We identify product class, volume, handling requirements, origin, destination, timing, site constraints and documentation needs.

  2. Design the movement

We determine the right equipment, driver capability, route, schedule, loading process, delivery window and compliance pathway.

  3. Confirm the commercials

We agree pricing, responsibilities, liability boundaries, service expectations and reporting requirements.

  4. Execute safely

The movement is carried out by trained people using appropriate fleet, systems and communication channels.

  5. Review and improve

For recurring work, we review performance, identify efficiency opportunities and improve the operating model over time.
