Chemical & Solvents

Specialist transport for chemicals, solvents and regulated liquids

Chemical supply chains leave little room for error.

Alexander Group provides dangerous goods transport for bulk and packaged chemicals, flammable liquids, solvents, additives and industrial products across New Zealand.

We combine trained drivers, fit-for-purpose equipment, controlled handling and clear documentation to protect the product, people, environment and continuity of supply.

  • Experience across critical DG classes

Experience across Class 3 flammable liquids, with transport solutions assessed against each product’s classification and handling requirements.

  • Bulk and packaged formats

Transport for tankers, ISO tanks, drums, intermediate bulk containers, pallets and customer-owned trailers or equipment.

  • Port-to-site logistics

Coordinated container collection, site delivery, decanting, equipment return and onward distribution.

  • Dedicated and ad hoc transport

Support ranging from individual chemical movements to managed fleets, recurring routes and embedded distribution operations.

Why Alexander Group

Chemical freight needs more than just a carrier

The transport requirements for chemicals and solvents depend on far more than volume and destination.

The product may be flammable, oxidising, toxic, environmentally hazardous or incompatible with other substances. It may require dedicated equipment, segregation, specific placarding, controlled transfer procedures or precise documentation.

A failure at any point can create consequences across the wider business. Production may stop. A site may be unable to receive product. An incompatible load may create a safety risk. A spill or documentation error may expose people, communities and the environment to harm.

Alexander Group puts the right fleet, trained people and operating controls around each movement, helping customers transport regulated products without shifting risk elsewhere in the supply chain.

Products and formats

Specialist dangerous goods transport for chemical supply chains

Alexander Group supports bulk, packaged and intermodal chemical transport across a range of classifications and freight formats. Each movement is assessed against the product’s dangerous goods class, safety data sheet, compatibility requirements and delivery environment.

  1. Flammable liquids and solvents

Class 3 transport for products such as acetone, ethanol, methanol, kerosene, toluene, xylene, thinners, coatings and other solvent-based products, moved in bulk tankers, ISO tanks, IBCs, drums or packaged formats.

  2. Oxidising and reactive chemicals

Class 5.1 oxidising substances requiring careful segregation, contamination control and product-specific handling procedures.

  3. Bulk, ISO and packaged chemical freight

Transport using bulk tankers, ISO tanks, intermediate bulk containers, drums, pallets and other packaged chemical formats, selected around product compatibility, volume and route requirements.

  4. Customer-owned and blended fleet models

Alexander Group can provide fleet, drivers, scheduling and operational management around customer-owned trailers, tankers or vessels, or combine customer and Alexander Group assets in a blended operating model.

Our Process

Five steps from first call to continuous improvement.

  1. Understand the freight

We identify product class, volume, handling requirements, origin, destination, timing, site constraints and documentation needs.

  2. Design the movement

We determine the right equipment, driver capability, route, schedule, loading process, delivery window and compliance pathway.

  3. Confirm the commercials

We agree pricing, responsibilities, liability boundaries, service expectations and reporting requirements.

  4. Execute safely

The movement is carried out by trained people using appropriate fleet, systems and communication channels.

  5. Review and improve

For recurring work, we review performance, identify efficiency opportunities and improve the operating model over time.
